I Didn’t Win NaNoWriMo, But That Doesn’t Mean My Book Can’t Be Finished

There’s plenty of time to finish writing your book

NaNoWriMo, for some, stands for National Novel Writing Month, which is the month of November. Whether aspiring or veteran, authors nationwide challenge themselves to write a 50K word novel within a month.

For some, it isn’t that hard, but for others, it’s more challenging than they realize.

I’ve seen veteran authors cringe over the thought of writing a novel within a month and comment on how sloppy it would be. The challenge is to develop 50K words of a drafted novel. The participants aren’t writing a perfect novel. This is their first draft.

Whether you choose to participate or not, it should be fun. It’s a way to motivate oneself to get that book written, and what better way than to join up with a group of writers who encourage you not to give up.

I would like to congratulate those who won NaNoWriMo. Awesome job!!

Utilizing Preptober

Preptober is something that we should not take for granted. October, also known as Preptober in the world of NaNoWriMo, is the month you use to figure out what you are going to write, create an outline and a character chart, jot down notes on your story, build a Pinterest board…
